Try these tricks to avoid Swollen Feet

During the Summer when the weather is hot, and when put to work excessively, our feet tend to redden and swell up especially when travelling. The reason for this is water retention; as gravity takes its course applying pressure to our feet, when combined with other factors such as heat, bad footwear, or seating that hinders circulation. There are, however, a few ways to deal with this issue:

1.    Drink Water

Drinking water can help lowering the amount of sodium in your body, which can in turn help ease the retention brought on by the latter. It would also be best to avoid salty foods when you’re on the plane.

2.    Compression Socks

Compression socks can provide relief or help avoid the swelling altogether sometimes, especially when traveling by providing the right amount of pressure to decrease the size of the expanded veins.

3.    The Right Footwear

Wearing wide, comfortable shoes with a low heel and soft sole can help you enjoy the flight in comfort without worrying about your swollen feet

4.   MOVE Your Feet

By trying to keep your legs raised even for a few minutes and walking whenever you can, you can help improve circulation, which can in turn alleviate the swelling in your feet. Stretching them and can sometimes help as well but be careful not to overdo it.

If, however, you experience other mild to severe symptoms, it could signal that you have an underlying health condition and we recommend you consult your doctor or a licensed professional.
